Dairy-Free Cookie Dough Dip (Gluten-Free, No-Bake)

Raise your hand if you’ve ever stood at the counter eating raw cookie dough straight from the bowl. (If you aren’t raising your hand, I am shook). Same. The dough was always the best part — and then somewhere along the way we all learned we’re not supposed to do that anymore.

So here’s the workaround: a dairy-free cookie dough dip that tastes like sneaking a spoonful, but there’s no raw egg and no raw flour to worry about. You can scoop it, share it, and hand it to your kids without giving it a second thought.

True story — I threw this together at the last minute for my 14-year-old’s birthday dinner. I set out a veggie tray and then a big platter with pretzels, vanilla wafers, graham crackers, and apple slices, and put this dip right in the middle. It was the thing people kept coming back to. I had multiple people tell me how much they loved it, and they were honestly a little shocked at how easy it was to put together.

That’s the whole appeal. It’s gluten-free, dairy-free, comes together in about ten minutes, and there’s no oven involved. Such a great EASY allergen-friendly option if you are going to a BBQ, potluck, party, or event.

Ingredients

You only need a handful of simple things here, and most of them you can grab at a regular grocery store.

  • Dairy-free cream cheese — This is the creamy base. Kite Hill, Violife, or Daiya all work well. I usually use Daiya, as I find it easily at my local Walmart. Let it come fully to room temp before you start (more on why that matters below). I got the best results with KiteHill – a thicker, fluffier result. But Daiya, worked too. Kitehill didn’t need chilling, as it was thicker, but Daiya was thinner and needed chill time.
  • Dairy-free butter — This is what gives the dip that buttery cookie dough flavor. Country Crock or a plant butter stick both do the job. I usually use this Homestyle Country Crock dairy-free butter from Walmart. Softened, not melted.
  • Brown sugar — Brings that warm, molasses-y cookie dough taste. Pack it down when you measure. You can also use coconut sugar here.
  • Powdered sugar — Sweetens and thickens at the same time, so the dip holds together without any flour.
  • Vanilla extract — Don’t be shy with it. Vanilla is a big part of what makes this taste like the real thing.
  • Fine sea salt — Do not skip this. A little salt is exactly what makes it taste like actual cookie dough instead of just sweet.
  • Mini dairy-free chocolate chips — Enjoy Life minis are my go-to. The minis fold in better and you get chocolate in every scoop. I get them at Walmart, Target, or Amazon
  • What to dip in it: I got gluten-free pretzels, vanilla wafers, and graham crackers from Walmart. I also really enjoyed apples and strawberries in it.

How to Make It

1. Cream the cream cheese, butter, and brown sugar first. Beat the softened dairy-free cream cheese, softened butter, and brown sugar together for 1 minute. Dairy-free cream cheese can be tacky, and creaming it first breaks that down so your dip turns out silky instead of gummy. Doing the brown sugar at the same time helps it dissolve and not be gritty.

2. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Pour in the brown sugar, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt, and beat until it’s creamy and fully combined.

3. Fold in the chocolate chips by hand. Switch to a spatula and gently fold in the mini chips so they stay evenly spread through the dip.

4. Scoop, top, and chill if you want. Scoop it into a serving bowl and top with a few extra chips. You can serve it right away, or chill it for about 30 minutes if you’d like it firmer and more scoopable.

Serve it with GF graham crackers, apple slices, strawberries, pretzel crisps, vanilla wafers — or honestly, just a spoon.

FAQ

Why is everything supposed to be at room temperature? This is the whole game with this dip. Cold cream cheese and cold butter will fight you and leave you with a grainy texture. Let both sit out until they’re truly soft before you start, and you’ll get that smooth, scoopable result.

How far ahead can I make it? It keeps in the fridge up to 1 week (at least!), so it’s a great make-ahead for a party. Just let it sit out about 15 minutes before serving so it softens back to scoopable.

Is this nut-free? The base recipe is nut-free — just double-check that your specific dairy-free cream cheese and butter brands are made without nuts, since some are nut-based. Skip the optional almond flour to keep it nut-free.

Can I make it vegan? Yes. As long as your dairy-free cream cheese, butter, and chocolate chips are all vegan (most are), the whole dip is vegan.
