Ingredients
This Dairy-free Peanut Butter Frosting keeps things simple:
- Vegan butter – I love the similar flavor and melt of vegan butter, and prefer it in my dairy-free dishes for both taste and cost. Use a vegan butter like this one I love from Walmart.
- Creamy peanut butter – I use Natural Skippy Peanut Butter. Just make sure it’s smooth (not crunchy) and I haven’t tested it with peanut butter you have to stir to combine, just the thicker kind.
- Powdered sugar or powdered monk fruit sugar – Powdered sugar is the classic option for frosting and what I use. If you need more of a Keto option, use powdered monk fruit sugar instead.
- Vanilla extract
- Vanilla nutpods – I prefer the flavor of dairy-free vanilla Nutpods creamer for my frosting, though you can use any creamer or milk that works for you. I get mine from Walmart.
- Pinch salt
The vegan butter creates that classic fluffy base. Creamy peanut butter brings the flavor and structure. Powdered sugar (or powdered monk fruit sugar if you prefer) adds sweetness and helps it thicken properly.
A splash of vanilla extract deepens the flavor, while vanilla nutpods adds a smooth, creamy consistency without dairy. And a small pinch of salt balances everything out.
That’s it. No complicated steps. No specialty equipment.

How to Make It
Start by beating the vegan butter until smooth and fluffy. Add the creamy peanut butter and mix again until fully combined.
Slowly incorporate the powdered sugar (or powdered monk fruit sugar), mixing until light and smooth. Add the vanilla extract, vanilla nutpods, and a pinch of salt. Beat until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
If it feels too thick, add a small splash of vanilla nutpods. Too soft? A little more powdered sugar will do the trick.
This Dairy-free Peanut Butter Frosting spreads easily and pipes beautifully. Use it right away or store it in the fridge until you’re ready.
Because sometimes you just need a frosting that works — and this one does.
