Gluten-free dairy-free snacks we keep on hand: 100+ store-bought finds plus easy homemade ideas, from a real family of 7.

100+ Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Snacks (Store-Bought + Homemade)

If you’re standing in the snack aisle hunting for gluten-free dairy-free snacks your kids will actually eat — hi, I’ve been exactly where you are.

We went gluten-free and dairy-free in 2018, and I’ll be honest: I was intimidated. I have five boys. Feeding five boys already felt like a full-time job, and back then the shelves were nearly empty of allergen-friendly options. We kept things simple because we had to.

Here’s the part I really want you to hear: my kids didn’t grow up this way. My oldest was a teenager when we switched. They remember goldfish, granola bars, and “normal food” — and they were NOT going to put up with something that tasted weird. (My fourth son isn’t even allergic to dairy, but he reacts enough that he skips it.)

So I get it. If you’re overhauling how your family eats and it feels like a lot — especially with more than one sensitivity in the house — you’re not being dramatic. It IS a lot. It’s like building a whole new food vocabulary.

But it’s doable. If a mom of five on a grocery budget can pull off gluten-free and dairy-free, so can you. And the good news? The food world has finally caught up.

Below you’ll find 100+ gluten-free dairy-free snacks we actually eat: store-bought finds you can grab this week, a few you can order on Amazon, and my go-to homemade snacks. Real options, tested by real (picky) kids, and I promise I’m not going to spin you a line.

Snacks You Can Find At Most Grocery Stores

There are a lot of easy snacks that are naturally gluten-free + dairy-free. A great basic place to start, available on the go or at most grocery stores.

  • Fruit! All fruit from the produce department is gluten-free + dairy-free. Grab grapes, apples, bananas, and more. Simple, delicious, natural option.

Paleo Fruit Salad - Gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free, EASY!

  • Raw veggies – carrots, bell peppers, cucumber, broccoli. We love them with my Dairy-free Ranch dipDairy-free Ranch Dip - An EASY side or appetizer for any party that is also allergen-friendly! Gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, egg-free, vegan. Perfect for parties, bbqs, potlucks, hosting, Memorial Day or 4th of July!
  • Hummus – We love hummus with raw veggies or gluten-free chips or crackers. Just double-check your ingredients; every once in a while I find a hummus that has dairy in the flavoring. Classic hummus is usually a safe bet! I love these individual-sized hummus cups that are great for on-the-go snacks or lunch boxes and travel. You can find them at Costco, Sam’s Club, or Walmart.

  • Guacamole – Same as the hummus, perfect for all the dipping to come! And just like the hummus, there are options that are individual servings for when you want to take it on the go.

  • Salsa or Pico de Gallo – Basic, but one of my boy’s all-time faves! Most tortilla chips are gluten-free; double-check the ingredients and enjoy.
  • Nuts – Raw, salted, or roasted, they are delicious and a great source of healthy fat. If you have a peanut allergy, just double-check they weren’t roasted in peanut oil.

  • Fruit Cups – A great portable, travel or lunchbox option! Though most are gluten-free + dairy-free, I prefer ones with 100% fruit juice and no added sugar.

  • Apple Sauce – In a jar or portable pouches, a great easy option. Perfect for lunches, or my boys love them as quick fuel for volleyball tournaments. Same as above, we prefer the no-sugar-added varieties.

  • Apples and nut butter – A delightful pairing of carbs + healthy fats that keeps you full longer. My husband and I love apples and almond butter, my kids prefer apples and peanut butter. They enjoyed putting the portable peanut butter cups in their lunches. Cut up an apple, toss with a little bit of lemon juice so it won’t brown, and pack it as a snack.
  • Fruit Leathers – Now, most fruit snacks are already gluten-free and dairy-free. But, if you want an option that is a little more nutrient-dense and has less added sugar, grab some fruit leathers! Costco and Sam’s Club usually have the most affordable options. Or, they have fruit leather ropes like these at Target or wannabe fruit by the foot Fruit Rolls that my kids found extra fun and we grab for trips.

  • Dried fruit – I have never met a dried fruit (yet) that wasn’t gluten-free + dairy-free! Eat it plain or use it to build you own trail mix with nuts, cereal, pretzels, chocolate chips, etc. I prefer no added sugar dried fruit, but that can be hard to find. My favorites come from Trader Joe’s like this dried mango with no added sugar.
Gluten-free + Dairy-free Trader Joe's Finds: Organic Dried Mango (unsweetened), such a great natural snack with no added sugar!
  • Hard boiled eggs – Not everyone’s favorite protein, but an easy-to-find one at gas stations, airports, and grocery stores!
  • Cereal – There are more and more gluten-free cereal options, which I love! I love how easy Target makes to find those options here.  Most Chex cereal are gluten-free (NOT wheat chex!), I love the simple ingredients in Lovebird Cereal. Cascadian Farm has some gluten-free options (double-check – not all of their cereal is gluten-free!) as well as ALL Three Wishes cereal are gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. Note: Heads up – the gluten-free community is split on whether Cheerios are appropriate for someone with celiac. You can read up on this article and decide for yourself

  • Pickles – I’m not a pickle fan but I know many who are! There are now fun portable pickle packs you can get as well like these ones at Walmart.

  • Olives – An easy flavorful healthy fat option you can snack on.

Crackers, Chips, and Salty Crunchy Snacks

The number of gluten-free and dairy-free crackers and chips on the market is increased a TON over the last 5 years. Love it! I couldn’t possibly list all of the brands that continue to pop up but here are some main stream options.

Buy these in bulk? A lot of great options can be found at Costco — see my Costco lunchbox finds for packing them into lunches.

  • Siete Tortilla Chips + Potato Chips – These are a BIG community favorite! Most tortilla chips are gluten-free, but Siete Tortilla Chips are also Paleo, which means they are also grain-free with dairy-free seasonings. They have Sea Salt, Lime, and Nacho (dorito-style) grain-free tortilla chips. Plus, they have a whole line of potato chips, our favorite is the BBQ!

  • Most traditional potato chips – Again, double check the ingredients if it’s seasoned. Our favorite are Salt and Pepper Chips. I never thought I would like that flavor, but SO GOOD. I usually get this brand that you can find at Walmart and Smiths, though I also love the Trader Joe’s brand as well.

Gluten-free + Dairy-free Trader Joe's Finds: Salt and Pepper Potato Chips

  • Simple Mills Savory Crackers – Simple Mills is a brand with very simple ingredients (usually 10 or less), all ones you recognize and know what they are! They are also Paleo, meaning grain free and no white sugar or high fructose corn syrup. They have a few flavors, but we think the Sea Salt ones are the best. They that are kind of similar to wheat thins. They are available now at Costco!

  • Hippea Chickpea Puffs – I found a box of these at Costco and figured why not try them as an easy lunchbox option? To my surprise, several of my picky eaters loved them! Wahoo! Now, they are not Cheetohs, but they are a lovely crunchy salty puffy snack that is gluten-free and vegan. They are cheapest in bulk at Costco, but also available at Walmart or Amazon. My boys liked equally the white and orange (cheezy) flavors.

  • Good Thins – Some of the easiest to find and most affordable gluten-free crackers. Made with rice, some with corn as well. I think they are best with a dip like my Dairy-free Ranch Dip. I find them at Walmart, but they are also at Target, Winco, and many more.
  • Trader Joe’s Mini Mochi Rice Nuggets – These are SO addictively good. Crunchy, salty, and a light airy texture I can’t get enough of. They have non-mini Mochi Rice Nuggets as well, but those are a bit too hard for me and I definitely prefer these! Tap here to see them and the ingredients.

Gluten-free + Dairy-free Trader Joe's Finds: Mini Mochi Rice Nuggets, one of my favorite salty + crunchy snacks!

  • Gluten-free Pretzels – There are several varieties out there. My boys enjoyed the Snyder’s brand, as they thought they tasted very similar to gluten ones. They also like these Snack Factory Pretzel Chips, or “flat pretzels” as they called them. You can also find them at Walmart. We didn’t love the Glutino brand as much.

Sweet Treats We Love

  • Gluten-free Oreos – You’ve probably seen these in most grocery stores, but these were revolutionary when they came out. Fiinally, a mainstream company had created a gluten-free option of a hugely popular food THAT ACTUALLY TASTED THE SAME.Seriously, I dare you to tell the difference. I’m an Oreo lover and the gluten-free version hits the mark. And YES, they are also dairy-free: all Oreos are actually vegan!Find them at Walmart, Target, and many grocery stores. With the original, they also have Double Stuff, Gluten-free Golden Oreos, Mint Oreos, plus they have them in individual packs for on-the-go! And be sure to use them to make my Oreo Truffles!
  • Simple Mills Sweet Thins – These are sweet and a great thin texture. They have honey (like a graham cracker), chocolate, chocolate mint, lemon. Our favorite so far is the honey and chocolate mint. Check your Costco – many of them carry these in bulk! They also started making these in convenient individual packaging.

  • Glutino Animal Crackers – These are a fun kid-friendly option that my boys enjoyed. They are a bit pricey though for a small bag, so we don’t get them often. We find them at Walmart
  • Annie’s Bunny Grahams – If your kiddos love the sweet goldfish, these are a great gluten-free + dairy-free swap! Made with no high fructose corn syrup and also nut-free + egg-free. I find them at Walmart.
  • Siete Grain Free Cookies – All of their Grain Free Mexican Cookies are grain free, gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and non GMO. Great for a lot of dietary needs! Learn more about them here
  • Sweet Loren’s Cookie Dough – Prefer freshly-baked? Then grab some Sweet Loren’s from the refrigerator aisle and bake them without any gluten, dairy, or work on your part! Also egg-free, nut-free, plant based, and vegan. Learn more about them here. I buy them at Target.
  • King Arthur Cookie Mix – Another option for freshly baked gluten-free + dairy-free cookies you don’t have to work too hard for. A mix that is also nut-free and you can add your own mix-ins to customize. I get it on Amazon.
  • Trader Joe’s Gluten-free Dairy-free Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough – I’m a big fan of a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. I love that TJ’s has this Gluten-free Cookie dough that is also dairy-free. A great option to keep in the fridge for when you just want to bake up a cookie (or 12 ; ). Learn more about them here. Gluten-free + Dairy-free Trader Joe's Finds: Gluten-free Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
  • Trader Joe’s Chocolate Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Corn – This sweet snack is such a fun combination of flavors. Like if a chocolate-covered strawberry and popcorn had a baby?! It’s a fun on we often road trip with, though we usually have to get several bags. Learn more about them here.

Gluten-free + Dairy-free Trader Joe's Finds: Trader Joe's Chocolatey Drizzled Strawberry Kettle Popcorn

  • Made Good Mini Cookies – These are fun ones for lunchboxes and snacks. Free from the top 9 allergens! I buy them at Target.
  • Heavenly Hunks – A chewy option that is made with ingredients minimal you can recognize. Also certified vegan, making them egg-free and plant based. The most affordable place to get them is Costco, but you can also find them at Target and Amazon.  They have a ton of flavors too – everything from chocolate chip, to birthday cake, to carrot cake!

  • Shameless Snacks – Gluten-free, vegan, low carb I’ve tried a lot of “healthy” candy. A lot of them miss the mark, especially in flavor or how much they stick to your teeth. These are my new favorites! The texture is perfectly gummy, the flavor is spot on, and they don’t stick to your teeth. I love the peach flavor I can find at Target, you can also find a variety pack here on Amazon, which I put in my kid’s Easter baskets.

Our Favorite Bars

Lunchbox Favorites

  • Made Good Bars and Granola Minis – We have enjoyed these granola bars and bites on a regular basis. They have a ton of flavors and my boys especially liked the granola mini bites in their lunchboxes. They are cheapest at Costco, though Target carries the most flavors and varieties. Free from most common allergies and made in a nut-free facility.

  • Annie’s Gluten-free Chocolate Chip Granola Bars – These are a great swap for the Chewy granola bars your kid might already know and love. My boys were able to transition to these with no complaints. Plus they are nut-free! We find them at Walmart or Target.
  • Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars – These soft fruit bars are also Vegan, Kosher, with no artificial colors or high fructose corn syrup. My youngest loves the raspberry flavor ones we find at Walmart.

  • Z Bars – These are a regular in our house. Their favorite flavors are the Chocolate Chip and Iced Oatmeal Cookie. We get them cheapest at Costco or Sam’s club, but Walmart and Target have them too. NOTE: These “May Contain Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Milk, Sesame, And Wheat.”  Please use discretion as to whether they are right for your sensitivities and allergies!
  • Larabars – Date and nut bars that are super simple in ingredients. Most have no added sweeteners besides dat4es and are also Paleo + Whole30 compatible. My boys don’t love the regular bars, but do like the Larabar Kid Brownie or Chocolate Chip Bakes (these do have added sugar). Find them at Walmart, Target, Winco, and most grocery stores.

  • Kind Bars – A mainstream brand of bar that is easy to find in many grocery stores. I don’t know if ALL of them are gluten-free + dairy-free, so please check your labels, but many of them are. We like these mini ones for lunchboxes.

Protein Bars

  • RXBars – Another kind of date and nut bar but it also has eggs in it that give it protein. Super simple ingredients and most are also Paleo + Whole30 (not the peanut butter or oat breakfast varieties). 12 grams of protein per bar. Find them at Walmart and Target. Our favorite is the Chocolate Sea Salt. Target has a store brand called Good and Gather that is more affordable as well. My boys don’t love these, the adults do!

  • Kind Breakfast Protein Bars – Like a normal oat kind bar but with soy protein. Comes in several flavor varieties, a little low in protein IMO at 8 grams of protein per bar. Find them at Target or Walmart.
  • TruBar Gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, seed oil-free. Decent amount of protein (12g/bar) and fiber and allergen-friendly. I have tried a few flavors of TruBars. I loved the donut flavor, but this Mint Chocolate Chip is a new fave! Literally tastes like you are eating a candy bar. My kids liked the chocolate chip one, but I didn’t. And I couldn’t even give the PB&J one a chance…that just didn’t sound appealing. So, try a few flavors, but you might like these too! I can find some flavors at Costco, though this mint flavor I will be stocking up on was from Walmart. Tap this link to get the mint flavor or to look at the ingredients. Also available on Amazon (in bulk) or I’d recommend you try this variety pack to see what flavors you love before stocking up.

  • BUILT Puff Bars (NOT DAIRY-FREE only gluten-free!) – I included these anyway, as my family really loves them. If you can tolerate some dairy or only need gluten-free, these are delicious. One of the few protein bars I truly enjoy and have one most days after my workout, with 17 grams per bar. We get them cheapest at Costco, though they have them on Amazon and Walmart. We did NOT like the texture of the regular Built bars, only the puff varieties. Most puff varieties are gluten-free, but not all! The cookies and cream and cookie dough ones have gluten in them, double check your labels.

Meat Sticks and Jerky

Many meat sticks and most jerky are gluten-free + dairy-free. It’s a great protein on the go option I keep in my purse and car almost always! Here are our favorite varieties

  • CHOMPSGluten-free, dairy-free, no added sugar, Keto, soy-free, Whole30, Paleo. Hands down the meat stick we eat the most! We almost always have it on hand. We prefer the original beef, but they have multiple flavors. Get it cheapest at Costco, especially when it’s on sale! But Target, Walmart, and Trader Joe’s all carry it as well. They also have mini small ones that a great for kiddo’s lunch boxes.

  • Jerky – My boy’s favorite is Tillamook Honey Glazed or Peppered Jerky we find at Winco. But again, there are tons of options here – find your favorite! Learn more about them here.
  • Archer Beef Sticks – There’s been a few times we haven’t been able to find Chomps and have grabbed these instead. Chomps is still our go-to but these are a good option as well. Simple ingredients, no sugar added and Whole30 + Paleo as well. Find them at Sam’s Club, Costco, and Target

Homemade Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Snacks Worth Making

Store-bought is the everyday hero, but a few of these are so easy I’d rather just make them — usually cheaper, and no label-reading required. These are the ones on repeat at our house:

Want the full stash? Here’s my whole collection of homemade gluten-free dairy-free snack recipes.

High-protein Muddy Buddies that are gluten-free and dairy-free — as much protein as a bar, in a snack your kids will actually eat.

And a couple of store-specific roundups I keep updated, if you shop these: my Trader Joe’s finds, my Costco finds, and my cheap GF/DF grocery list for staples that actually work. Packing a lunchbox? Start with my back-to-school meals and snacks.

Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Snacks You Can Get on Amazon

No Trader Joe’s nearby? Walmart doesn’t carry the good stuff? I get it! I’ve always lived at least an hour from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods.  Amazon has quietly become my backup for the harder-to-find snacks — especially the allergy-friendly brands our smaller stores skip. Here are the ones I’d actually put in a cart (always double-check the specific flavor, since brands love to reformulate):

  • Hippea Chickpea Puffs – Perfect for lunchboxes and after school practices. I have these on autoship! Get them HERE.
  • MadeGood granola bars + minis — school-safe, gluten-free, dairy-free, and they sneak in some veggies. Get them HERE
  • Simple Mills cookies and bars — lots of delicious options for snacking, or baking and then snacking. Get them HERE
  • Siete grain-free chips — gluten-free and dairy-free (skip the nacho and queso flavors). Get them HERE
  • Enjoy Life Dairy-free Chocolate Chips  – I find them locally at Walmart or Target, but Amazon sells them too! Get them HERE
  • LesserEvil popcorn + paleo puffs — clean ingredients, several dairy-free options (not ALL are dairy-free: double check!). Get them HERE.
  • Partake cookies — allergy-friendly, gluten-free, and vegan; great for classroom treats. Get them HERE
  • Chomps or Country Archer meat sticks — protein that travels, no cooler needed. Get them HERE
  • That’s It or Bare fruit snacks — just fruit, nothing weird, toddler-approved. Get them HERE
  • Bobo’s bars and bites – Soft chewy bars and oat bites, even PB&Js! Get them HERE

Ordering online is also how I stock up before road trips and back-to-school, so I’m not paying specialty prices one bag at a time.

Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Snacks FAQ

What snacks are both gluten-free and dairy-free? Plenty, once you know where to look. Fresh fruit and veggies, popcorn, most potato and tortilla chips, nuts and seeds, jerky and meat sticks, applesauce pouches, dairy-free chocolate, and lots of packaged bars. This whole post is a list of our tested favorites, store-bought and homemade.

Are gluten-free snacks automatically dairy-free? No — and this trips people up constantly. Gluten-free only means no wheat, barley, or rye. A gluten-free cracker or granola bar can still have milk, butter, whey, or cheese powder. Always flip the package over and read the ingredients, because brands also reformulate without warning.

Is popcorn gluten-free and dairy-free? Plain, air-popped popcorn is naturally both. The catch is the flavoring — butter, cheese, and “movie theater” coatings usually add dairy, and some seasoning blends sneak in gluten. Stick to plain popcorn with oil and salt, or a bag that’s clearly labeled gluten-free and dairy-free.

What chips are gluten-free and dairy-free? Most plain potato chips and corn tortilla chips are naturally gluten-free and dairy-free. Watch the flavored ones — sour cream, cheddar, and ranch versions almost always have dairy, and some seasonings add gluten. Salted, barbecue, and many “simply” flavors are usually safe, but check the label.

What are the best gluten-free dairy-free snacks for kids’ lunchboxes? Go for grab-and-go: applesauce pouches, fruit, popcorn, meat sticks, dairy-free yogurt pouches, freeze-dried fruit, and a homemade batch of muffins or protein balls. My kids’ current favorites are in this list, and I’ve got a full lunchbox guide in my back-to-school post.

Where can I buy gluten-free dairy-free snacks? Honestly, most regular grocery stores now. Trader Joe’s, Costco, Aldi, Target, and Walmart all carry solid options, and I’ve linked my store-specific finds above. You don’t need a specialty health-food store anymore, which also keeps it a lot more affordable.

  1. When my friend was recently diagnosed with Celiac, the hardest part was watching her say goodbye to all the snacks and comfort foods she loved. It felt so overwhelming at first, but this list was a total game-changer for us. It turned a stressful transition into something manageable. We are both so grateful for the help!!!!!
