My boys love ramen, but after going gluten-free as a family, we needed a Gluten-free Ramen Seasoning option. This seasoning has all the flavor of a ramen seasoning packet, but in a whole-food and gluten-free way!
I came up with this as I have teen boys who love ramen, but we are a gluten-free household. They find it a spot-on replacement for the ramen seasoning packets that come in a package of ramen.
My friend had a daughter go gluten-free. She mentioned the one thing her girl missed the most was RAMEN. I knew it was time to give this easy Gluten-free Ramen Seasoning recipe a place on the blog for everyone else who needs it.
Why We Love This Gluten-free Ramen Seasoning
- It’s gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. Perfect for the sensitivities in your family! This is a great swap to keep ramen as an easy snack or meal option.
- Plus, it’s ridiculously simple to make! Only 6 ingredients + 5 minutes and you have homemade ramen seasoning at your fingertips. How easy is that? It’s one my teenage boys make all the time on their own.
- And, this seasoning is very budget-friendly. There are a variety of gluten-free ramen seasonings you can buy on Amazon, if you need convenience. BUT, this one takes only 5 minutes to make and only costs $0.93 per batch – less than a $1 per batch!
- All the ramen flavor without the fuss. Quick to make, budget-friendly, simple ingredients (no added sugar or preservatives), shelf stable. What’s not to love?!

Ingredients
- Nutritional yeast – Nutritional Yeast is not the same as baker’s yeast. Though it’s derived from baker’s yeast, it’s been deactivated and cannot make things rise. Instead, it’s a commonly used for a cheesy dairy-free flavor. I get mine at Trader Joe’s (best flavor and cheapest), but you can also find it at Walmart.
- Salt – Regular table salt
- Garlic powder – Granulated garlic or garlic powder. I buy my spices in bulk at Winco or Sam’s club.
- Onion powder
- Dried basil
- Dried oregano
- Ground black pepper
How to Make Gluten-free Ramen Seasoning
- In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients, stirring to combine. Store in a sealed container (we use a small mason jar, pictured) in the pantry for up to 3 months.
- To make gluten-free ramen, we use Lotus Foods gluten-free ramen noodles. We get them at Costco, but you can also find them on Amazon. INSTRUCTIONS: Place 1 ramen brick in a glass bowl. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon ramen seasoning and then cover with 1 cup chicken broth (we prefer chicken broth, but you can use beef or vegetable) or bone broth. Microwave in 1 minute intervals, flipping the ramen noodles every minute, until desired softness, about 4-5 minutes. Wait a few minutes for it to cool before eating.

This recipe is great and brings ramen back to us gluten free folk! Even my kids love it more than store bought ramen.
Bringing ramen back to the gluten-free crew is the whole mission — and beating store-bought in the eyes of your kids? That’s the ultimate win! Thank you so much for the review! 💛
Yum!!! I subbed parsley for basil because I was out of basil. I also added a tsp of fenugreek and ginger. Thank you for sharing your recipe!!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing how you made it your own, that’s always fun hear. Thank you for the review!
Just made this tonight ! Wow really liked this seasoning a lot ! And so much healthier and not salty or anything. Great taste with Vega ramen noodles. Likes the taste and all . Finally can eat ramen noodles again !
I love hearing that! 🙌 So glad the seasoning hit the mark for you and that it felt flavorful without being salty. Being able to enjoy ramen again is a huge win! Thanks for sharing how it worked for you.
This was so good! I was nervous that my gf kiddo would be bummed to have this when other people were having “regular” ramen, but he was making yum sounds all through dinner! You’ve got a winner here!
Aww, I love that so much! That makes my heart happy — nothing better than a gluten-free meal that everyone enjoys just as much (or more!). Thank you for the review!
Yummy! This was really delicious. I did not use the nutritional yeast but added coconut aminos. I used some of my bone broth that just finished and was cooling. Reminded me of my younger days with ramen but healthier. Thanks!
Love that this brought back ramen memories in a whole-food way! Thanks for sharing the swaps that you enjoyed.. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review!
I couldn’t believe Autumn made a healthier version of the ramen I loved in the package as a kid but she did and she nailed it! It’s so quick and easy to make. It’s one of my go to’s for a quick comfort meal that brings me back to my childhood.
That’s such a sweet full-circle moment—so glad this recipe brings back those nostalgic flavors in a healthier way! Love that it’s become a go-to comfort meal for you. Thanks so much for the kind review!
This was amazing and so easy! It tastes just like the ramen from the packet. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes!
That’s such a win—easy and just like the classic ramen flavor, but made with whole food ingredients! So glad you loved it. Thanks so much for leaving a review!
Wow! Just tried this and love how easy and flavourful it is. So versatile too. Thanks for the recipe!
It’s so easy, yet so good. I’m happy you agree and loved it! Hope it becomes a pantry staple for you. Thanks for the review!
My 6-year old was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. She Loves ramen and I was worried about trying gluten free. She said this ramen tasted even better than the other one she used to love!
Oh man that makes my mama heart SO HAPPY! I’m thrilled this was able to be an option – I know that diagnosis and changing the way she eats can be a LOT. Hope you find so many more favorites here and I’m rooting for you!
My family loves this! So delicious and easy to make! made on the stove top with Costco chicken bone sipping broth for added protein. Serves with chicken teriyaki meatballs and broccoli to make it a meal.
Ooo, I love this! So smart to use bone broth for added protein to ramen. And that dinner combination sounds delicious. Happy you love this seasoning and we could be a part of your family dinnertime. Thanks for the review!
Do you know of an alternative to nutritional yeast? Son is DF, GF but also yeast free diet.
Oh that’s a tough one! Unfortunately, I don’t, and it’s an essential part of the flavor of this recipe, so I don’t recommend leaving it out. Anyone who knows a good alternative, please drop a comment below!
This was a big hit with my four kids! It was delicious and so simple and easy to make. I love that I can feel good about the ingredients as well.
YAAASSS that this was a winner with your kiddos!! It’s so great to have an easy recipe made with whole ingredients that gets the kid approval. Happy you loved it, thank you!
Sounds great! What’s the shelf life of this would say??
It’s good until the expiration date of your ramen and spices. For us, that’s up to 6 months in the pantry…though it never lasts that long, ha!
Have you made On the stove before? We don’t have a microwave. Thanks. It sounds amazing
Oh, great question. I haven’t, as my kids usually make it themselves and microwave is their preference. But, I’m sure it could be done on the stove in a similar manner – heating until noodles are tender. But, I’d have to test it to provide exact instructions. LMK if you try it!
Flavor was great! I did try it on the stovetop using the recipe ratios since I was making it for dinner for our family of 7- which ended up being mostly noodles and no remaining broth. We prefer having more broth with the noodles- so I would recommend cooking the noodles in water as the package says and doing the broth/flavoring separate (that’s at least how I will try it in bulk next!). I do want my kids to try the microwave version for lunch though!!
Thanks for all your recipes- huge help!
Oh interesting – thank you for sharing the details on stovetop cooking, that’s not one I have done much of (my kids usually use this themselves in the microwave), so great notes for that. Glad you loved the flavor regardless. Thank you for the review!
I make this on the stove top. I still use 2 cups of chicken stock per Ramen block. However, I can fit two blocks in my pot at a time so I use 4 cups of chicken stock. The next time I made it, I used 2 tablespoons of the seasoning (1 Tbsp per block) but that was way too much for us. After that, I used 1 tablespoon for the two blocks and it was perfect. Boiled for about 7 minutes.
Thanks for letting us know what worked for you on the stove! Happy to hear the seasoning was enjoyed. Thank you!
Is the nutritional yeast needed for this recipe? It’s not something I have on hand so just wondering if I can leave it out. I’m looking to replicate the flavour of the seasoning packet for a cabbage salad recipe that traditionally calls for ichiban noodle seasoning (not gluten free). Thanks!!
Hi! Great question. The nutritional yeast is a huge part of the flavor of this seasoning, so I definitely don’t recommend leaving it out. It add a depth and flavor you just won’t get without it.
Wow! This is a winner! Quick and easy recipe that everyone loves!
WOOT WOOT, winner winner ramen dinner! I’m so happy this was an easy and delicious win. Thank you so much for the review, those help me so much.
Can’t wait to try this! One of my kiddos can’t have the packaged ramen anymore due to the MSG and she misses ramen terribly. Thank you!
I’m so happy this brings back a missed favorite. I hope she loves this swap!
We have loved the Lotus Foods GF ramen noodles, and have done lots of dishes with them, but sometimes I just crave an instant ramen vibe and this is perfection! Especially love how easy and inexpensive it is to keep a jar on hand for whenever the craving strikes!
YES that this filled the craving for a traditional ramen flavor! So easy and affordable and fits those dietary needs. I’m so glad you loved it. Thanks so much for the review!
So stinking good! Family favorite thank you so much
I’m so glad you love this easy recipe! Happy to hear it’s a family favorite. Thank you for the review!
Mind blown! I love the Lotus Foods Rice ramen noodles but have not had the *ramen* we all grew up loving in over 10 years. Had to try this ASAP! It’s incredible! Thank you for continuing to create recipes to replace what those of us with food intolerances miss out on.
It makes my heart so happy that this easy recipe could bring back a favorite. SO DAN EASY, yet really hits the mark on that classic ramen seasoning. Thank you for the review!
We LOVED this in our house! So amazing to have a healthy version of a teenage favorite 😂 Highly recommend this recipe!!
