Ingredients
You don’t need anything fancy to make this Oreo Truffle Valentine’s Dessert — just three ingredients:
- Gluten-free Oreos – For just a gluten-free and vegan option, use Gluten-free Oreos, which you can find at Walmart, Target, or Winco. Grab the regular ones, not the double-stuffed. If you need Paleo, use Simple Mills Crunchy Cocoa Sandwich Cookies for simple grain-free ingredients (Note: You will need two boxes of Simple Mills cookies to make a full batch). Or, for Keto, use a low-carb cookie like Catalina Crunch (vegan but not gluten-free).
- Dairy-free cream cheese – I love using Violife, as it’s also nut-free. I also use Daiya often, as it’s easy to find at my local Walmart. But if you need a cream cheese with Paleo ingredients, use Kitehill Cream Cheese, which is Whole30 Approved (but is nut-based). Both of these brands have the best flavor, IMO.
- Dairy-free white chocolate chips – My go-to brand for Dairy-free chocolate chips is Enjoy Life. I prefer the White Chocolate, as it pairs best with the already very chocolatey Oreo center. But, I can only find the dairy-free Enjoy Life White Chocolate on Amazon, and it’s cheapest in bulk. Or, use a semi-sweet or milk chocolate chip that works for you. Enjoy Life semi-sweet chips can be found at Walmart and Target. For a Paleo option, use Hu Chocolate Chips (cheapest at natural food stores like Whole Foods or Sprouts).
That’s it. Crazy that only three ingredients can make such a delicious dessert! Looks harder than it is, but is so easy to make.

How to Make It
The process couldn’t be more straightforward. Use a food processor to finely chop the Oreos, then blend in the dairy-free cream cheese until smooth and thick. The mixture is then shaped into small heart-shaped truffles and chilled until firm.
Once set, the truffles are dipped in melted dairy-free white chocolate and allowed to harden. After that, they’re ready to serve, share, or package up for Valentine’s treats.
Dipping Tips
Dipping things in chocolate sounds simple but can sometimes be frustrating. Here are some tips for dipping these Peppermint Oreo Truffles from someone who has done it thousands of times.
- First, the chocolate consistency should be thin and smooth. If you burn chocolate, it gets thick and lumpy, and there’s no going back. For most consistent results, melt your chocolate on low heat on the stove instead of the microwave. If the chocolate isn’t burned but is still too thick, you can add 1-2 tablespoons melted coconut oil to thin it out.
- Second, make sure the truffles are frozen solid before dipping. This allows them to dip into the hot chocolate without falling apart or sliding off the toothpick.

- Thrid, use the toothpick method. Many people use two forks when dipping. Which works, but is finicky IMO. I just insert a toothpick into each frozen truffle and dip them into the melted chocolate. Once the chocolate is cooled and solid, then remove the toothpick and cover the hole with a dab of leftover melted chocolate with the back of a spoon or clean finger.
- Finally, use the cup method. Once the chocolate is melted, I line a mug with a sandwich-sized ziplock bag (see below!). Pour the melted chocolate into the bag. This creates a nice, deep well to dip your truffles into. Plus, when you are done dipping, you can use the leftover chocolate to create decorative squiggles on top.
How to Get Them Heart-Shaped
There are two easy ways to get them heart-shaped:
- Use a silicone heart mold. This is the fastest and easiest way. The mold I got is no longer available and only had 6 hearts in it, which was annoying to do it in batches. The mold I would recommend is this one here from Amazon. I just recommend that the heart shapes are not too big, around 1″ each.
- Use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter. If you don’t want to get a mold, you can also just get a small 1″ heart shape cookie cutter, like the smallest one of this set. Instead of pressing into molds, you will roll the dough out into 1/2″ thick and cut the heart shapes out with the cookie cutter before freezing.

Oreo Truffle Valentine’s Dessert
Equipment
- 1 set of heart silicone molds or small heart cookie cutter. I used a silicon heart mold like this one from Amazon: https://amzn.to/4ql99T5
Ingredients
- 30 Gluten-free Oreos or other gluten-free, dairy-free chcoolate sandwich cookies of choice, *see notes
- 4 ounces dairy-free cream cheese we love Violife or Kitehill
- 1 cup Dairy-free White Chocolate Chips can also use semi-sweet
Instructions
- Pulse cookies in a food processor until just crumbs. Add cream cheese, cut into smaller cubes, in the food processor. Pulse until the mixture is combined and forms a large ball. Mixture should not be crumbly and hold together, but not be too sticky to form into balls. See notes if not the case.
- Scoop small amounts of batter into each heart mold. Press down into the mold. For my mold, that was 1 tablespoon each. Or, if using a small heart cookie cutter, roll the cookie mixture between two pieces of parchment until it's an even 1/2" thickness, then use the cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes. Freeze until hard, 30 min-hour.
- Remove from freezer. Melt chocolate chips in a small pan on low, stirring continuously until smooth. Dip each frozen heart in the melted chocolate and place on a tray lined with parchment. We make this process easier by stabbing each frozen heart with a toothpick for dipping, then removing it once placed on a tray and covering up the hole with a small dab of melted chocolate.
- Repeat with all frozen cookie hearts. Top with decorative chocolate, nuts, or melted chocolate squiggles. Store in the freezer or fridge.
