Whole30 Date Mustard

This is my favorite dressing and dipping sauce on or OFF the Whole30. Yes, it uses date paste, which could be considered a sweetener (no sweeteners allowed on Whole30). So, if it revs up your sugar dragon or is a food with no brakes, this dressing is best left out of your Whole30. BUT, there are multiple #whole30approved products out there that use date paste (it’s one of the first in ingredients in both the @tessamaesWhole30 approved Ketchup and BBQ sauce). So, govern yourself wisely there!

Whole30 Faux "Honey" Mustard

  • 1 cup compliant mayo*
  • 2-4 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons date paste you can't buy it in stores, see recipe below

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Adjust amounts to your own preferences (stronger or lighter mustard flavor)

Recipe Notes

I use my homemade 2-minute Mayo here

Date Paste

  • 1 c. pitted dates packed
  • ½ c. very hot water

  1. Combine dates and hot water in a bowl and let sit for 1 minute. I usually press them down into the water a bit to ensure they all are soaking. Place dates and all the liquid in a blender and process for 30 seconds or until completely smooth. Store in a closed container in the fridge for up to 3-4 weeks.
