Back to School 2020

This post is sponsored by on behalf of Nature’s Bakery

Back to School for us in 2020 is looking different this year. My boys are all starting the semester virtual learning and we don’t know how long before we will be off the CA pandemic watch-list and be allowed to go back even part-time in person. This is definitely not the back to school we are used to.

One thing that hasn’t changed this year? My boys still gotta eat! We are actually excited that most days we will get to eat lunch together as a family. My boys (lead by my 16 year old) decided to have lunch together at the picnic table in the backyard during this virtual learning time, which I thought was fantastic. But you’d better believe we won’t be making lunch from scratch most days, as my boys have only 30 minutes for their lunch break between virtually classes. Which means we will need easy nutritious options that can easily be pulled together for a lunch. And when my boys do go back to school in person, those quick options will be all the more important!

Our favorite gluten-free dairy-free granola bar? Nature’s Bakery! It’s hard to get all 5 boys to all love the same thing sometimes, but these soft fig bars have all of their two thumbs up! We enjoy all their flavors, but the favorite is a toss up between raspberry or blueberry. My 8 year old literally told me he thinks the raspberry ones taste like candy?!

All Nature’s Bakery bars are plant based, nut-free, soy-free and GMO-free, which I know is a big deal for those of you with nut allergies in your home or attending a nut-free school. I love that they don’t melt or crumble in lunchboxes or on trips. We have taken them on many of our adventures this year! I love how easy they are to find at my local Walmart (in the gluten-free section) as well as through Thrive Market and Amazon. You can also find stores local to you that sell them through their website store locator here.

  1. Where did you get the lunchboxes in your cookbook?

    • They are sadly no longer sold. But these are very similar!
